If shoes make the man
We are all in trouble
With barely a cobbler left
Every sole is glued and pressed
Designs are trickery
Leather is stiff

Rubber soles are magnificent
Runners, sneakers, athletics
Whatever you may call them
If you can get away with wearing them
There is no reason why you shouldn't
If our ancestors could have worn sneakers
They would have
If there is one movement that has died
It is the craftsmanship of the men's shoe
Not for millionaires
But for run of the mill
Running the mill
Blue collar folk
Men of the yoke

Thank goodness
Socks don't make the man
Although in my case that might be fine
Most men
Keep atrocious care of their socks
Even keeping ones
That look run through mud
Gone are the days
Of mending socks
People just get new ones
Which I suppose is fine
If you are hard on your socks
And don't have any sentimentality
When it comes to flair

My father wore two different colored socks
Every day of his life
Even on his wedding day
It was black and gray
I wonder what that would say about the man?
Holding on to playfulness as best he can?
He was also a gentleman who enjoyed the Bass white Buck
Which says a lot
Because that is a fine shoe
Well crafted
With a perfect balance
Between (refreshingly) high quality materials
Superb stitching
Soft select suede
And an unmistakable
Extremely powdery
Purposeful and forgiving
Well connected and blatant
Soft rubber sole
