Attacks the heart
On this very joyous day
We pile in
Trying to hold it all together
There is a black president!
Being sworn in today!
Some of us scream
On the inside
But whom among us
Would advise such behavior
On a slow moving train
Or one that is thirty minutes late
For the awkwardly somber
Daily routine
This is the silence of a heart attack
Or the incredibly smooth
Ninja-like tactics
A quiet storm of social change
So slight and gradual
That even someone rolling over
In their grave
Might not notice
Someone at this very moment
Is losing their senses
Having not witnessed
The honoring and swearing in
Of our new world leader
But having felt the change in the air
Can only imagine what the future holds
A clutch
A chest
A peace
A sanctity
Yet another is pounding their chest
With a once mighty fist
Grimacing
In disbelief
With a lack of comprehension
And utter fear
That can only make a heart attack
Sound like progress
Certain
Legitimate
Gracious
Elected
