Sticks in Mud

Bare as the day
Such magnificent pistons
Hidden steam and glisten
When shaved down in such a way
As to better examine
The streamline and sheen
With luxurious gleam
Like the sparkle of salmon
Swimming upstream

Strong like a cabin
Or the posts that contribute
An attempt to distribute
With less give than a javelin
The weight in proportion
But with all the great flair
And yet not to compare
Without squint or distortion
A sleek marble column that cost half a fortune
Or at least it's fair share

Since the days of extortion
This primitive torture
To lure the debaucher
Even using a portion
Exposing the base
In single or pair
Guiding glimpse to full stare
Making chaste law make haste
For the trickle of wine or the parts of a chair
Ask most, it's a waste
Whether ebony, caramel or the tint of plain paste
When handled with care
Take them out on a tear
If you've got em' - flaunt in good taste
