Lover's Turret

Ever wanted to put a mattress in a stairwell
one of those on top of a building
with glass skylights
and all that natural light coming in
from every angle imaginable
call it home for a while
all on top of everything
watching birds fly around
maybe a latch that opens
letting some air in
and some flies out
pigeons against a gray sky
in the clouds
no street or sidewalk
just rooftop
and rain
pattering down
puddles mirroring the moon
broken up by more rain
broken by the sounds of a gurgling drain
broken by the break of day
having to be carried away by a crane
or a line strung down from plane?
