Staying in touch
Through cosmology
Not like sharing a kidney
Something made up of billions of molecules
With cells somehow larger than others in the neighborhood
Forever stringy
Held together by a band
Some dial
Focusing in on a wavelength
Made for no reason

Inevitable arguments
Over the good deeds done
Continual support
A lunatic with no husband
No children
Someone is thankful
Someone maybe not even very special
Holding the keys to heaven
Backing the classic out of the driveway
A joy ride
Maybe several hundred
With all twenty or thirty trillion cells
Firing on almost all cylinders
Looking at the sky
On a clear day
Feeling the tug
Knowing this is more than was promised
More than could be asked for
More than a wish hitched to the tail of a star
This is a trailer of good will
And when everything is running smoothly
It may never feel right
Always the perfect gift
