Because I Stopped

Because I stopped listening to music
Jazz in particular
My brain has gone soft
The world has gotten smaller
Beautiful things have become ugly
The works of man have seemed trivial

With just one Weather Report jam
At the right moment
In the right climate
My mood has shifted toward mellow
The day looks muted and delightful
People don't seem half bad
Even time passing by feels good

Instead of booze or drugs
I think I'll start back on a steady regimen:
Jazz, Blues and Soul

It saved my life once
Maybe a second helping
Just as charming
When feet tap
Heads bop
Necks swing
Tension is released
Eyes go passive
And then some
