With Enemies

with enemies
we become
Greater than we are Alone
A rival legitimizes the Struggle
That struggle the reason for Breathing
with enemies
we flourish

with enemies
comes heat
It starts in your chest
Rises up into your throat
Until the lack of oxygen
Causes your Eyes to pop
You can feel the flush
In your cheekbones
A Throbbing
in your neck
with enemies
we sleep

with enemies
we grow
Stronger than we expected
Our expectations low
Then, anticipation of Failure
And the need to not fail
To our Enemy:
Let us accommodate and economize
Movements and results
with enemies
we flee

with enemies
in trees
We see stars
Misshapen and oblong
Stretched out and fuzzy
We call on Ancestors
As do they
We do battle
Like that
With celestial forces
In our Guts
Those guts
Spilled from slain
One or the other
with enemies
we starve

with enemies
come rules
Those rules different
For every conflict
So we decide early on
To set aside our differences
Box up the Morals
For mortal warfare
Is not done with eyes closed
And you should pray
Beg on bended knees
For a true enemy
Instead of a good fight
Or a high standard of conduct
You should beg to your Almighty
That an Enemy exists
So great
As to compensate
For the Level of indigestion
And soul crippling anxiety
You will feel
with enemies
we journey
