Tragic Gully

At once both gladiator and jester
Bull and rodeo clown

We were all pinned together like swatches
Pinned against each other like crotches

Purposely designed to fester
Boil, stew, swim, or drown

Cut free from some marvelous block of stone
Chiseled with blind eyes and heavy hand

We were all enthralled to witness the specimen
Deconstructing all the nasty bits of the regimen

It was nothing if it wasn't full blown
Probed, prodded, groomed and fanned

Always more fondled than fawn
Inquisitive to a fault

Myth becomes legend and dies
The audience crippled in cries

Seemingly illogical movement
Like knight carving stars around pawn
Erratic stations are an improvement
When an invisible train comes to halt
