Obligation

In these times
Dress like you're attending
Assume there are places to go
People to see
None as interesting
As unloading in front of the TV
After a long day of work (doing nothing)
But, still
When you leave the house
Clothe yourself like there's a big dinner out
Maybe a show
Because these are the days
Where invitations are last minute
And guests are a must
Without a date
You may just be
Adrift on the sea of obligations
Somewhere you don't want to be
With no one there to save you
Or at the very least
Share in the disgust
That there were dishes to do
And a lonely dog
And a dirty floor
And instead
Of dealing with that
Feeling some signs of relief
You are coming with
Tagging along
Remedying any possibly awkward situations
And just because
The same has always been
Done for you
Dress like you're coming
And wait for the call
Thanks
