Returning to Africa

Returning to Africa
Was sweet like a belladonna bloom
Candid like calendula
Gunshot to ricochet like droplet on spoon
Like an eye gone rancid, yellow moon

Lost in a book fire
All we ever needed to know
Love sweet love rub
Position to change like Indian Summer
Like the concept of a dumbwaiter, lost, we've grown dumber

Farming for charm
We found a space between pleasant and phony
Patient like petroleum
Burnt image like Jesus in toast
Like a reason to boast

Returning to animal print
Is the most noble trend
Regal like Bengal's dark stripes
Measuring right by what bites and what fights
Like tricky spots that become present in the absence of lights
