User, Friendly

As if forever
Fingers, keys
Examining parapets
Exercises of hand and mind
Revising our stay
As still others fiddle
In jelly
Waiting to become a user

Oh, friendly fire
All that danger
Heading in some opposite direction
As we take things up
In our mouths
And with our soft holes
Some plans left on a table
While others
Eclipsing
Even the trials of great benefactors
Looking to give back
After having taken up their fill

Never quite sure for what
Cushion, gripping
Gathering for the sake
Like pillows
To lean on
When things begin to lean
In some opposite direction
Bright lights coming
Instead of going
With nothing to do
But grab up
What little we have
And move on
If possible

Utilizing
Fifty tiny hinges
The same that can become
As one
Or two, or four
When passing on a gift
Benefit that can not be
Directly felt
Different from stock-piling
Reaching out
Holding fast
Being something other than
Something
That can use something
