Swedish Fish

Judging by mothers
The elasticity of pictures
Says a mouthful
Thin lipped and floating
Solving all of life's problems
With a shift of weight
A hand lent with subtlety
Those moments lived fully
So long ago
As to be winterized
Crackling with fragile return
The stillness surrounding
For hope that they will become like children

In present overwhelming
How repeated lifts of the eyebrows
Or the joshing giggles and elbow jabs
Do not match the realness
Of tiger
From the candied perspective
Of gummy shapes
"Kitty" or meow
The transformation not really occurring
Before eyes
On the contrary
The change occurring in the other party
The one being eaten

Dropped off at a party
In attendance by those
That know how to chew
Swedish fish
The layers climb on
The clouds begin their roll into focus
What is behind them
Nary a kitten would know
The fog is for hunting
But the den is well fed
Meat-packed
This is a tiger swap
A thunderbird and phoenix collision
Parked cars are not locked cages
They are shocked
At how active
Salted terminals
Can become
Surprised
By their own
Death defying levity

The original is above - as written. Then, I decided to expand on my theme with the post below. But, after reading the original this morning I found that, once again, the original holds up well for my taste and I always prefer to post what is written on the train, other than some minor corrections in spelling, grammar or flow. Anyway, the poem below is to show what happens when one runs away with a theme - Let me know what you think...

Swedish Fish v.2:

Shooting in barrels
The artistic equivalent
of deluge
Judging by mothers
The milk as sweet as roe
Like a tender berry
The elasticity of winegums
Or as pastellfiskar
Certainly a mouthful
Thin lipped and floating
Solving all of life's problems
Adjusting the balance
With a shift of weight
A firm hold
Testing pliancy
A hand lent
With subtle sensibility
Those moments lived in full
So long ago
As to be winterized
Crackling with fragile return
The stillness surrounding
For hope that they will become like children

In present overwhelming
How repeated lifts of the eyebrows
Or the joshing giggles and elbow jabs
Do not match the realness
Of tiger
From the candied perspective
Of gummy shapes
"Kitty" or meow
The transformation not really occurring
Before eyes
On the contrary
The change occurring in the other party
The one being eaten

Dropped off at a party
In attendance by those
That know how to chew
Swedish fish
The layers climb on
The clouds begin their roll into focus
What is behind them
Nary a kitten would know
The fog is for hunting
But the den is well fed
Meat-packed
Reindeer infested
This is a tiger swap
A thunderbird and phoenix collision
Parked cars are not locked cages
They are shocked
At how active
Salted terminals
Can become
Surprised
By their own
Death defying levity
