In Parallel

When you say
Take off your shoes
It's not personal
But it makes things comfortable
A polite smile puts all stresses at ease
A notification of what is to come
Is also welcome
As is the ability to recollect my name
And use it when addressing me
All these things are secondary

My lucky marble
Waits at home
Watching a dancing moose on the television
Soon there will be rules
For when this box of light and color
Can be on
What the programming will be
And at what volume the sound can be set
Depending on the surrounding events

The thought of adding a "y"
A nice thought
Like a brand new day
Or split down the middle
To balance the sounds
What might have come before
Leading to the shifting of plates
Is not of any particular importance
But more of a curiosity
Leaving the room for just a moment
Like forgetting keys
Or playing a game
Where you wonder whodunit?
And will they get away
Unscathed

The curling brow
Shallow dimple
And lightened load
Is shaped like a "C"
And is a gift of x
All the love in the world
Can be dropped from any height
Directly onto that very spot
Perfectly marked
And decidedly so
With best intentions
