The Loop

We thought we were strong
But, peeling back the sheets
We found a tunnel
And were scared to go down

We weren't wrong
For thinking ourselves strong
Nor for not wanting to venture down
A path with no light

When you close your eyes
Color and light come back
But only inside
We are inside your head

After finding a suspension bridge
That had become someone's floor
And asking if the baby was hungry
It wasn't you

I think I shaved for you
And noticed fat under my chin
That was never there before
What we have become

It's true that we have seats reserved
In some supper club in heaven
Where the velvet chairs
Are scotch guarded

Because heaven would be lame
If your drink brought out my neuroticisms
And your tunnel and my tunnel
Weren't one big loop
