Animal Crackers

Between us a sea
Mostly made up of licorice bones
and iced tea
A few floating lemonade barges
and sugary dots of spray
Crates and cartridges
Sno-cone bumpers
bone on bone
No cartilage

Between us an ocean
Of clanging keys and soft spun string
Each hinge oiled with stingy drips
Leftover from barning and cattling
Chicks and calves
Anything splitting the wave of legs
Two by four in halves

A Walk Downtown Instead
