Hurry

Hurry
Go pee
I have things to tell you
Like the dream I had
Where our child was kidnapped
Momentarily
By a girl
Who strolled off with him
I had climbed the steps of an attic apartment
Meant for a priest or a monk
The ornate wooden steps
A dead giveaway
That I shouldn't have left my son behind
When I saw her wisk him away
I ran after them
Through narrow cobblestone streets
When I eventually caught up with them
Her village elders were scolding her
And she seemed to be embarrassed
I grabbed my son from the stroller and hugged him tightly
He cried on my chest
And whimpered
"You didn't save me"
Sure I did
I did
