Dirigible

Three thousand pound Max
That's what they called him
Flying low one day
He saw a possible reason
His shadow was massive
Covering not only the crops
But all the festival tents
And people were distracted
So, he drifted further down
To the bay
Where the shallow-swimming fish
Rather enjoying a break from the sun
Complimented him on his mass
He argued that it was really just a shape
He was mostly hot air
But thank you
A compassionate whale
Sensing his frustration
Explained the weightlessness of space
And near-weightlessness of water submersion
And so with a fear of heights
Max decided to try the salty deep
Not much of a submarine
He settled on becoming an island
Some of the airborne plant spores rather appreciated the rest
As did the birds
The jellyfish avoided Max like the plague
But that was probably for the best
As he was their fake lord incarnate
A reminder to them of their temporary nature
A billboard for jellyfish insurance
Of which no jellyfish had ever even invented yet
After a long while Max did eventually try space
But only for a few minutes
Before being tragically carried away as food
By a space beast
Known as forty thousand pound Minnie
