Wait For Long

Hard to stomach
Spending a month of groceries
In one night
But happy anniversary

This occurs on some birthdays
Then again on a few holidays
And before you know it
You are spending two years
Every year

This doubling happens
Without you knowing
But it's easier than inventing
Which can be cheaper
But costs more in brain

So we thoroughly enjoy
Then pull out hair
When the credit cards
Begin to skyrocket
And we complain about paying them down

Before long
Something will break down
Or we will get clumsy
Perhaps a major shift will deliver
Instead of washing away

This disease is only half tragic
Because there was drink
And revelry
The peace of not having to think
Which becomes the precious commodity
Perhaps fully tragic
But I stopped thinking about that
A handful of years ago
